Ege Forestry Research Institute
(EFRI) was initially established in 1977 as a station of the
Inner Anatolia Forestry Research
Institute - Ankara. In 1992, it became a separate governmental research institute.
bound to AR-GE (Board of Planning and Research) of the Ministry of Forestry. EFRI was transfered to the Ministry of
Environment and Forestry after unifying of two Ministries
in 2004).

In addition to these
divisions, EFRI has
two research centers in Ovacik (Izmir) and Gokova (Mugla) and a nursery for
forestry research experiments. EFRI is equipped with modern laboratory facilities
for all aspects of scientific research in forest related areas. These are soil,
plants, entomology, pathology laboratories.
EFRI has a total staff of 67 personel,
14 senior members (Ph.D), 7 experts (MSc.). 9 Technical Personel
Responsibility area of EFRI
covers the provinces Izmir, Denizli, Mugla, Usak, Aydin, Manisa, Yalova, Balikesir,
Canakkale and Bursa.

Conducts research in Forestry and Environment.

Cooperates with other research bodies within and outside Turkey carrying
out familiar research activities.

Trains students and people from other organizations and countries on forestry and ecology.
